When Malaysia airlines
went missing The Daily Show antagonized how awful these news reports are saying
about the airline going missing. Jon Stewart uses satirical techniques in his
set. He criticizes how CNN and Fox news are not even talking about the airline
going missing, how the airline went missing, and what may have caused the
airplane to go missing. All CNN and Fox are talking about are black holes and
the Bermuda Triangle. What these newscasts are talking about has nothing to do
with the topic and it does not even relate to Flight 370 disappearing. CNN also
had a whole new segment about how airplanes are built and how many inches the
airplanes are. Jon is irritated about this and is making fun of them because he
does not understand why they are not talking about the important topic. These
newscasts do not even want to inform, all they want to do is scare people. Jon
in his show uses exaggeration, incongruity, and parody. This is effective
because people do actually see what newscasts do to actually waste time on the
air. Instead of talking about the importance of the topic, they talk about
unrelated topics. CNN thinks that this airplane has been lost in a “black
hole”, or did not survive the flight through the “Bermuda Triangle”. Jon does
actually show frustration because he does not understand what these people in
the newscast say. He wants these newscasts to be real and to the point. He does
not like how they are not talking about the real problem.

"Guy Washing Hands For Full 5 Seconds Like He’s Going Into Surgery"
http://www.theonion.com/articles/guy-washing-hands-for-full-5-seconds-like-hes-goin,38037/
Jeremey Garton, an open-heart surgeon, has been caught washing
his hands for five seconds on a Wednesday as if he was supposed to step into
performing surgery. Jeremy’s coworkers also do make fun of him stating “Looks
like Mr. M.D needs to scrub his hands real well if he’s going to keep
everything nice and clean for his patients”(Guy Washing Hands For Full of 5
Seconds Like He’s Going Into Surgery, 1). They are criticizing the way Jeremy
washes his hands and are acting like he as if he is getting ready to go and
conduct a quadruple bypass surgery. He has also been accused of drying his
hands with a paper towel rather than just rubbing his wet hand on his jeans.
Jeremy
Garton has been made fun of for washing his hands for five seconds. He is an
open-heart surgeon and the way he washes his hands is actually the proper way
to wash hands. They make fun of Dr.Garton because he washes his hands in a
bathroom as if he is washing his hands to go conduct a surgery. The article
exaggerates the time limit of washing his hands, and uses parody because he
is a doctor and washes his hands the same way he would wash his hands before
conducting a surgery. This article satirizes how long people actually wash
their hands.
