Community Service

Although students do not put time aside to volunteer, it is necessary because it will benefit them to reach their future career goals. Volunteering is an opportunity for high school students to get a glimpse of different types of careers in the real world. Community Service is not only giving back to the people, but it also makes the student a well-rounded individual. It is essential that students volunteer in their communities and take in unforgettable experiences that later help them make decisions on their career path. It is important for students to have a glimpse of different types of volunteering opportunities because they will get a chance to experience different environments. A student volunteering is like someone working on their daily job. They will get a feel of what it is like working for a certain office, hospital, or even an animal shelter. It may be a deciding factor of what field the student may want to look into the future.
Prueter, a young volunteer, has decided to spend his time with the elderly at an assisted-living home. He spends his time talking to the elderly, taking care of them, cooking, gardening, and playing games with residents. He makes the residents feel loved and cared for. Prueter fell in love with his volunteering job and is quoted in (Source 3) “His dream job, he says, is working where he volunteers now.” Prueter through experience loved his volunteering and turned it into his job. Students should take Prueter’s actions into consideration because it will help students be involved with different ideas about what can be their future job.

  1. Angelica, you have several strong points in your post. I like how you explain your opinions in the first paragraph then give an example from one of the sources in the second to show that your points are true. I also like the picture you included and the colors. Terrific!

  2. Congratulations on an amazing post. I liked your argument and I enjoyed the way you backed up your evidence even more. Using Preuter as your evidence was the correct choice, since it supported the argument you are trying to prove. Your argument showed me a side of volunteering that I had not seen before. Awesome job.

  3. Wow Angelica, your post was very well written! The evidence used to back up all arguments was very efficient and used correctly. The way you laced your own opinion into the blog post was also very well done! Also, I agree with Davit; using Preuter as your evidence was a very good choice! Fantastic job Angelica!

  4. Angelica, this post contains some valuable pieces of advice. Society today should indeed take, as you so eloquently stated, “Prueter’s actions into consideration”, as they exemplify not only a course of action that is advantageous to oneself, but one that also benefits the community. Your argument, supported by references to Source 3, is crafted beautifully, integrating logos as well as pathos to support your claim. I appreciate your style of writing greatly, because it is concise and true. Fabulous. Absolutely fabulous.
